UB Poker Review
January 5, 2010
If you know anything about online poker, you are sure to have heard of UB Poker or Absolute Poker. Our UB Poker review details how you can receive a $1,111 bonus, 5% interest and more. Well now, they are run together and share a player base, their network is now known as CEREUS. Anytime you are playing with a network, you can expect great traffic and tons of tournaments registering all the time. Since both Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker were well known and respected internet Poker rooms before they became a network, they have double the awesome player base they each had when they stood alone. You will find all of your favorite poker games available at Cereus like; Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Stud,Stud Hi-Lo and Razz, as well as HORSE(a mixed game including Holdem, Omaha, Razz, Stud Hi-Lo & Stud Eights or better).
Entering the UB Poker referral code BONUSHP in 2010 will give you the best bonus possible. UB Poker is the first online poker room to offer a full selection of casino games built into the poker client. This includes over 40 table games, slot machines and video poker games. Our UB Poker casino review provides more info. If you are looking for a huge bonus please visit our UB Poker bonus guide.
You will find pretty high tournament traffic at UB Poker with most of the tournaments ranging from a single dollar up into the thousands. There are also many free rolls registering all the time as that is something that Absolute Poker was known for. No matter what your bank roll is looking like, you are sure to find a tournament in your price range registering around the clock. However, with both the tournaments and the ring game tables, the majority of there traffic is at No Limit Texas Holdem tables as this is the most popular Poker game right now.
As great as the new software that UB has introduced is, their customer support options are definitely lacking. The first thing you can do when you have a question or concern about the Cereus network is to search their extensive FAQ pages that are filled with all of the most frequently asked questions. If you are unable to answer your question or solve your problem there, there is only one other option for you. You can contact Cereus’ customer support team via email. The response time is usually around 24 hours, although sometimes it may take longer or shorter depending on how busy they are. This is not instant help, but it is the closest thing that the Cereus network currently offers to instant customer support

Poker Stars 2010
December 31, 2009
If you have been searching for the absolute best place online to play all of your favorite Poker games, than you can finally stop your search as PokerStars is the biggest and most well known and respected online Poker room available in 2010. PokerStars opened their virtual doors in 2000 to online Poker players from all over the world. From the beginning, PokerStars became one of the hottest internet Poker rooms around with tons of games running around the clock. In 2003, a PokerStars player by the name of Chris Moneymaker played a $39 satellite tournament, which he won and continued winning all the way to a seat in the WSOP. Chris didn’t disappoint Poker amateurs worldwide, in fact he came quite the hero when he walked away the winner of more than $1,000,000 as well as a WSOP main event golden bracelet. When people heard the story, they were amazed, here was a regular online Poker player who took $39 and turned it into over a million! This started the Moneymaker craze where housewives, college students and retirees started opening online Poker accounts and trying to become the next Moneymaker. Now, PokerStars in 2010 has a team of more than 40 pros that play at their site regularly and thousands of players at the tables around the clock. Check out this Pokerstars review for more info on our 100% bonus on your first 3 deposits, for $600 max.

2-7 Triple Draw
December 31, 2009
2-7 Triple Draw Poker is a newer Poker game that has become increasingly popular in the online Poker circuit, especially at PokerStars in 2010. Although the game is played very similarly to other Draw Poker games as well as other low ball Poker games, however there are a few major differences. One thing is that Aces are not good, regular good Poker hands are bad and count against you, like, straights, flushes, pairs etc. Another big difference is that when playing 2-7 Triple Draw, you do not get the added benefit of seeing some of the other player’s cards, so you need to pay more attention to the players and the moves they are making. Good 2-7 Triple Draw strategy is similar to other Draw Poker strategies,There are a few important things to keep in mind when playing 2-7 Triple Draw Poker and we will help you to understand them so that you have a better shot when you sit down at the table.
The best possible hand in 2-7 triple draw lowball is 23457. Getting this hand is roughly twice as hard as getting dealt a pair of aces in Hold’em. The average winning hand in 27 triple draw is 8 or 9 high based on my experience. You should only play hands with 3-4 cards under 8 is most situations.

Two Things to Watch For in Seven Card Stud
November 17, 2009
One of the most important aspects of playing seven card stud is keeping a keen eye on your opponents and their up cards. The up cards on the board paint a picture for the hand and provide a framework for how it could unfold. Not being aware of these cards puts you at a clear disadvantage. One of the pitfalls for new seven card stud players is playing in a cave and not realizing that paying attention to what their opponents may have is as important as paying attention to their own hand. With this in mind, there are two key things to watch for in seven card stud that will help you get off to a good start in the game:
- An opponent pairs their door card: This is a critical time in a hand of seven card stud and you must understand the possibilities of what could be happening. Realize that if this is a capable player, they most likely are in the hand because they had something halfway decent to start with. If they now have paired their door card you have to be astute to the possibilities. If they have a wired pair, then it is very likely they now have two pair. Or to make matters worse, if there pair was split, then now you are staring down three of a kind. Next time an opponent pairs their door card think long and hard about the situation. Make sure you can beat their hand or have a solid chance of beating it in the future to continue.
- An opponents door card is an ace: Check out our article on playing the ace in seven card stud for information on how to play when you are the lucky one holding the ace, for now, we need to cover how you can best manage the situation when your opponent holds the ace. Studying your opponents is the single best thing you can do to help manage this situation. Loose and overly aggressive players will almost always try to push you around when they have an ace. Your strategy then will need to be to play right back at them. Sometimes a raise or an opening bet is all that is needed to deflate someone who is overconfidently betting their ace. Strong players introduce a whole new problem in that they are hard to read and they usually play strong hands. Make sure when a strong player is showing an ace that you have the potential to beat him, if there is any question or the pot odds are off, make the right decision and save the battle for another time.

Annette “Annette_15″ Obrestad
November 4, 2009
Annette Obrestad has become one of the most feared women poker players in the world since she won the 2007 WSOPE Main Event. Her journey to poker stardom began at just 15-years old when she began playing internet poker. She joined Ultimate Bet and played at the play-money tables as well as freeroll tournaments. Her big breakthrough online was when she won one of the freeroll tournaments and was rewarded a $9 tournament entry, however she chose to cash it in for the money instead. It is rumored that she is thinking about creating a network of poker training sites.
With the $9 she began playing $1 sit-and-goes and was a regular winner, growing the $9 into hundreds and eventually thousands of dollars by playing low stake sit and goes and up to $6 multi-table tournaments. This bankroll management paid off for Annette but as her bankroll ballooned she had to move up in stakes. She created accounts at PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker where the biggest weekly poker tournaments are held, however she wasn’t so successful. The MTT players at both these sites were far more experienced and better players than the low-mid stake players she was used to at Ultimate Bet, forcing her to change her playing style. She adopted a much more aggressive style which proved to be a success because she found herself winning the big tournaments at both sites, which brought a lot of exposure and attention to her. She also won the $100 rebuy tournaments at PokerStars various times cementing her place as a feared MTT player.
With so much success online she was able to travel to live tournaments in Europe, and in 2007 the first World Series of Poker Europe was being held in London for the first time. Annette decided to travel to London and entered the £10,000 buy-in WSOPE Main Event. She played exactly as she did online – lots of aggression and with perfect reads. She busted popular female players Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman, two players considered as the best female players in the world, but the spotlight was on Annette for this tournament. Eventually on September 17th, 2007, the tournament was down to Annette and John Tabatabi and Annette finished victorious. The victory came just two days before her 19th birthday and she won £1 million for the achievement.
Six weeks late Annette travelled to Dublin, Ireland, for EPT Dublin. Yet again she made the final table, this time losing heads-up to Reuben Peters. She won $429,181 for her runner-up finish and had the poker community amazed at how she was dominating tournaments both online and live.
With so much success she earned sponsorship from Betfair Poker and was invited to the invitation-only television shows Premier League Poker III, and European Open IV. She made impressive showings at both shows and managed 4th in the European Open IV final for $30,000.
In 2009 she continued to post impressive results online and live. Her biggest result of 2009 has been 13th in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo where she earned $101,244. She continues to play internet poker as well as travel the live

Full Tilt Poker Pros Take A Beating
October 3, 2009
Online poker players that are members of Full Tilt Poker have this month seen an increase in tournament and ring game offerings as the site looks to become more active, especially the H.O.R.S.E poker and Seven Card Stud poker tables.
The additional tournaments have meant that players from all over the world are now becoming able to participate in multi table tournaments (MTT) due to the bigger variety of starting and running times becoming more convenient for them.
Increased tournament and ring game schedules at Full Tilt which were announced at the start of October 2009 has meant that a large number of the members at Full Tilt Poker have become more active, participating in the new increased schedule.
Included within those players were a number of the Full Tilt Poker Pros who were looking to increase their bankroll as they enter into games and tournaments against players from a huge array of backgrounds and statuses.
The professional players that are affiliated with Full Tilt Poker offer a huge range of ability and success, with many names being well known across the poker industry, both online and within live tournament situations.
With the profile of Full Tilt Poker being so large, they have quickly become the second largest online poker room on the internet, finding themselves below Pokerstars who boast a massive 20 million plus members. If you want to sign-up at Pokerstars instead of Full Tilt please check out our Pokerstars referral code & bonus code which will give you a huge bonus. Read this Poker Stars review for more info.
With the action unfolding on October 1st 2009, some of the professionals found themselves having a tough time at the tables, with David Benyamine finding his bankroll over $640,000 lighter, Gus Hanson watched on as he lost $122,000 and Brian Townsend saw his bankroll lose $114,000 due to his participation.
Not all of the pros found themselves in the losing rhythm though, Richard Ashby recorded a $350,000 profit and Phil Ivey, who is one of the biggest names in the poker community won $109,000 during his time at the poker tables.
With the action been mixed for the professionals, the limelight was passed onto some of the bigger name online amateur players with Ashton “theASHMAN103” Griffin winning $211,000, Tom “durrrr” Dwan recorded a profit of $209,000, Tom “Kingofcards” Marchese won $180,000 and Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond cashed $175,000.
With the apparent change of luck for the professionals, it seems that there is an increase of players who are willing to place their bankroll on the table against the Full Tilt Poker Pros, entering into the ring game tables that were graced with the big name stars.
Something that players who are reading this article and thinking that they are going to head to the tables to trade plays against the professions should think about is that although some of the professionals had a tough time at the tables at the beginning of the month, their game will improve and staking funds that you can’t afford to lose is not recommended.

Poker Rooms - Reefer Poker & PDC Poker
September 28, 2009
There are two poker rooms on the Merge Gaming network that I like to play at. Reefer Poker and PDC Poker both offer the same excellent software but they each reward players with a different promotional package. I will start with Reefer Poker since I play there more often and their name is just so cool.
Reefer Poker
Obviously the brand is about weed/pot/marijuana/bud/smoke/green..ect. You will immediately notice the pot leaf images when you log-in. Reefer Poker’s target audience is young guys and girls that exjoy getting high. This is very +EV for two reasons:
- Young poker players tend to suck
- High poker players tend to suck
I haven’t liked smoking weed since I was in high school so I have a big edge on the other players. They host special tournaments and freerolls that can only be accessed Reefer Poker player. I like these the best because I know 90% of the competition are potheads. I’ve won a lot more money at Reefer Poker compared to other rooms.
Signup now and you will receive a 150% bonus on your first deposit up to $1,420. This is the largest first deposit bonus in the world (that I know of anyway). In order to receive this bonus you must enter the Reefer Poker coupon code SMOKE420 when you make your first deposit. You must also use the link below to visit Reefer Poker and download the software.
PDC Poker
PDC Poker is what the old poker.com poker room was renamed after the domain was sold to another company. Since many of the players that play on the PDC Poker skin have been playing on the Merge Network for 5+ years this room gives out a lot of extra bonuses. Its a little known secret but it makes sense when you think about it. I’ve had my PDC Poker account for at least 5 years so of course they will treat me better than the average new sign-up. The good thing for you is that you are able to create an account at PDC Poker and be classified as a long time player. Its more of a glitch than anything else but it is very +EV.
Signup now and you will receive a 100% match up to $600. You must use the link below to visit PDC Poker and download the software. When you make your initial deposit use the PDC Poker coupon code TOPCODE and you will be ready to go.
US Players Welcome
Reefer Poker and PDC Poker both accept US players. They also offer over $100,000 in freeroll tournament every month!

Mixed Poker Games At Pokerstars
September 26, 2009
The reasoning behind playing mixed poker games is for the sake of competition. Only players who are proficient in every game can exceed, and mixed games also eliminate the edge for players who specialize in just one game. Mixed poker games separate the pros from the amateurs, and many seasoned players enjoy the challenge of a mixed set. Pokerstars is the leading mixed poker game room. read our Pokerstars review to find out how you can receive a 100% bonus on your first 3 deposits using our special Pokerstars referral code PSP11820 in addition to the bonus code STARS600.
When HORSE was added to the 2009 WSOP schedule, it suddenly gained a lot of popularity and became the most common mixed game. PokerStars offers HORSE. HORSE is a game that includes Hold ‘em, Omaha, Razz (7 Card Stud Low), Stud (7 Card Stud High), and 8s or Better (7 Card Stud Hi/Lo). PokerStars also hosts HOSE tables, which is the same as HORSE, but without Razz. Other popular mixed games at PokerStars include 8-Game Mixed Poker, Mixed Hold ‘em, and Pot-Limit Hold ‘em/Pot-Limit Omaha freerolls only.
There is a very large number of HORSE events at PokerStars every week starting at $1+$0.10. Other HORSE tourneys start at $3+$0.30 and some of these include 10-minute levels. You can play on HORSE tables up to $20+$2. Additionally, there are a number of weekly guaranteed HORSE events at PokerStars including $1,000 Guaranteed tourneys costing only $10+$1 and $1,500 Guaranteed HORSE events with buy-in of $15+$1.5 and $30+$3 buy-in. Alternatively, $3,000 Guaranteed HORSE events run weekly and a $20K Guaranteed event that costs $200+$15 with quite a bit of satellites connected to it starting at $30+$2.
There are on average dozens of HOSE turbo tournaments running weekly at PokerStars, all with a buy-in of $15+$1.50 and even more 8-Game Mixed events with buy-ins ranging from $2+$0.20 to $40+$4. Also, one weekly 8-Game Mixed $5,000 Guaranteed takes place on Saturday at 16:35 ET with turbo satellites for $39. There are also many HORSE, HOSE, and 8-Game Mix freerolls running all the time at PokerStars.
On Sundays, the $5,000 Guaranteed Mixed Hold ‘em event runs for $200+$15 with a couple turbo satellites available. You can also play Mixed Hold ‘em tournaments for $8+$0.80 daily, but there are currently no freerolls for this style of poker.
Overall, PokerStars is probably the best place to play mixed poker games online. There’s plenty of competition and mixed game tournaments run constantly. Also, with the weekly guaranteed tourneys and satellite feeders, this is a very lucrative poker room for these types of poker tournaments. Mixed games serve an important role in the progression of many players’ game and skill set. They are a great way to develop an expertise in more than one game and help to break up the monotony that comes with playing single game poker. When players suddenly discover that they’ve mastered Texas Hold ‘em and or another poker variation, mixed games quickly become their favorite thing to play. Many players say that once you play mixed poker it’s tough to go back to playing just one game because playing multiple-variation tournaments is just too exciting to regress from.
